A Cédric Carrasso in great shape, recruits who disappointed, bosses always there… The staff of the Girondin de Bordeaux examined closely in the term of this 8th round of League 1

They are the top:

Where would be Bordeaux today without…

Dreams and Regrets.
Last season’s Numéro Collector was far happier. But alas, this seasons would still prove a good read.
NEWS:
Fabien Farnolle signed for Clermont today for two years. Good luck to him!
Planus picked up a knock with the French NT, twisted right ankle on Wednesday. Nothing serious though. Thankfully, as many WC teams have been plagued with injuries as of late!
Triaud claims there has been no offers for Gourcuff.

Lens 4 - 3 Bordeaux.
Hello all, this is all I have from tonight. Just as well. Bordeaux a fini 6ème en Ligue 1. No Europe, mais vivement la prochaine saison!; quand même. Before that, mass exodus of the team. This will be interesting…
In other news, from the past week and today:
- Clip emerged on Thursday of Deschamps hinting wildly/confirming that Blanc is the next French NT coach. Blanc expected to meet with everyone tomorrow to seal his adieu.
- Broke out in the French press that Chamakh was involved in money laundering (friend laundered money to set up his restaurant, used Chamakh’s bank account to transfer this money to Morocco). But he was cleared as he was not aware of the nature of the money. This story broke out in the English press today, hinting at tarnishing Arsenal’s rep, etc. Ok then….
- Gourcuff did not play today, despite resuming training from his injury. Will we see him in a marine et blanc shirt again?
- Ciani was red carded in the sixth minute today. This means that him, Henrique, and Carrasso are suspended for the first match of the next season.
- Oh, and Planus went off injured today. Give the guy a break, Injury Gods.
ON TO THE POSITIVES:
+ Planus, Diarra, Carrasso, Gourcuff made Domenech’s provisional team for the World Cup. Planus was amongst the favourites not to make the final cut, but it would be amazing if he did. His absence (and Alou’s) made les Girondins’ defence fall apart. Unfortunately this new injury may hamper his chances. But who knows, Raymond Domenech is crazy.
+ The UNFP Awards took place on Sunday, in which four players; Ciani, Trémoulinas, Gourcuff,  Chamakh made the le onze de l’année. More than Marseille, can I just add. ;)
+ Chamakh hosted a charity game for 1001 Sourires, his charity. It was played in Bordeaux on Sunday. I guess you could count that as the last game he played in Bordeaux. Sertic, Bellion and Plasil took part. May reblog some photos from that later.
+ Wendel scored the 900th goal of the season in Ligue 1 today. and became Bordeaux’s top scorer this season. (yes, I am seemingly scraping for positives now)
+ With forthcoming exodus of Blanc, Chamakh, and others leaving; here’s to a fresh start for Bordeaux. This great era was short-lived, but let’s hope club ambitions can only heighten, despite the lack of Europe. (Les hommes au Scapulaire ne participeront à aucune compétition européenne pour la 1ère fois depuis la saison 2005-2006. - No Europe for Bordeaux for the first time since 05/06) 2009/10 was still a good run.
This tumblr will be by no means dormant during the World Cup, and my own personal obstacles - exams. I will (most likely begrudgingly) document the ins and outs during the summer, and reminisce on recent Bordeaux successes/happier times! I hope you all continue to follow this tumblr, long after the likes of Chamakh (and Gourcuff…) leave (because yes, I have noticed a lot of the reblogs are because of them ;)). Feel free to hit me a reply on this post! End of season and all that.

News:

Season over for Gourcuff?

Blanc said today he is certain not to play against Nice, and there are doubts for against Sochaux. Will need to review with the medical staff the following week to see if he can play the last match of the season against Lens.

On the bright side: Keita made some really good saves during the match. Great debut, despite the scoreline. News came through that he dislocated his shoulder, though. :(
Le Mans tomorrow, injury list has grown - notably Gourcuff with a sprained ankle. Carrasso is back in the group. Since Keita picked up an injury, Fabien Farnolle will be on the bench as replacement goalie.
Depressing fact from optajean: Bordeaux have lost 8 games this term in Ligue 1, they have never won the title after having lost as many games. History.
Have we conceded that we’re aiming for a top three finish now? I guess we’ll know for sure by the end of tomorrow. Allez Bordeaux.

Marouane Chamakh: un vrai l’enfant du club.

Needless to say, it was hard typing up those translations. Tears fell, memories came.

There was another great quotation about his relationship with the club, which I cannot find right now.

Where to next?

Has obviously been linked with Arsenal for the past two seasons. Make what you will. Apparently his younger brother, Yassine (or Yacine, as it was quoted?) told L’Équipe that he will move to London when Marouane joins Arsenal. —- “but nothing’s concrete,” he adds hastily. He has also been linked with Liverpool and Spurs in the past. Arsenal has that French connection and European football at their disposal. I think that wins. Imminent.

Who will replace Chamakh? Who is the new #29 of les Girondins?

We have been linked with PSG’s Guillaume Hoarau, and er, Toulouse’s Andre-Pierre Gignac, amongst others.

But Hoarau gets Chamakh’s seal of approval:

«J’ai toujours dit que Guillaume Hoarau était un attaquant que j’appréciais. Je pense que nous avons à peu près le même profil de jeu. Sur un plan humain, c’est aussi quelqu’un que j’aime bien. Je l’ai rencontré à plusieurs reprises et cela ne me gênerait pas qu’il porte le numéro 29 l’an prochain, car c’est vraiment quelqu’un que j’apprécie. Et s’il le veut, alors bien sûr !»

I have always said that Guillaume Hoarau is a striker that I admire. I think that we have more or less the same style of play. On a personal level, he is also someone who I like a lot. I have met him on several occasions, and it would not bother me if he wears the number #29 next year, because he is really someone who I like. If he wants to, then of course!

Nine matches left for the man who will be our number 29 forever.
