After some weeks of speculation, Fernando Cavenaghi is gone…temporarily. Signed on loan for Real Mallorca for the season, with the option to buy. Sad faces all round. He said it was time for him to leave [a “that’s football” (c) Gourcuff moment], said something about how much the supporters’ chants mean to him, Bordeaux is still in his heart. I understand. He’s wanted out for a long while (playing time issues, not a new challenge). At least not 100% gone. Hmmm strikeforce.
Matthieu Saunier’s loan deal has finally fallen through after his trial with Troyes.
Grégory Sertić looks to be set to go on loan to Valenciennes. Some random musings: 1) Majority of fans not happy with this. I quote a comment: “STOPPPPPPEEEEEEE AUX MASSACREEEEEEEE.” - I don’t think I have to translate what that means. So yes we just snagged VAFC’s arguably best player, but do we have to loan them Greg in return? What if we are plagued with injuries? (not that we are/continue to have injuries already…) We’d be screwed. Even though we’re arguably currently screwed. MIDFIELD DEPLETION IS NOT GOOD AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME. 2) With previous midfield depletion (Gourcuff, anyone?), it would’ve been an opportunity for him to get his chance, seeing as he was touted to really break out this season. (“notre meilleur jeune” and all that.) 3) HE CAN DO SET PIECES. BORDEAUX CAN ONLY SCORE FROM SET PIECES. THIS IS WHAT WE DO. Like, what if Wendel goes too? 4) Lots of people questioning what on Earth the powers that be are doing. Mind you, I think Ben Khalfallah was a good signing. Although many still yearn for the likes of Cabaye and Gameiro…but I guess no chance now. 5) Personally (speaking as one of Sertić’s biggest fans hahaha), I’ll be ok with it if the midfield remains injury-free/doesn’t flop. If it’s doesn’t, then I’ll have major issues with this loan. He’s getting his chance, just at another club…whatever’s best for Greg, in that respect.

The dear, the amusingly vocal, Pierre Ducasse. A fansite (I think it was Girondins33 - I’ll check after) said that Ducasse will be let go at the end of the season when his contract runs out. Don’t know where this idea of a story came from, maybe it’s because we seem to be having some kind of exodus right now…but let’s see how this goes. I will be sad if he’s left to walk so easily. This club nurtured him and he turned out pretty well. Hold on to SOME of the ones ‘formé au club’….just keep Chamakh in mind. Besides, who will sing ‘Oooh Angélo’ when we win something?

Gourcuff: Yes, I’m satisfied with the performance of my team. I acknowledge that not a lot of shots were made, I don’t really know how to shoot with this controller. But no, the game was interesting, at times I was a threat to Bordeaux. It was satisfying, but it’s frustrating in front of goal. (he complains about not knowing how to shoot again.) [Now you will have to concentrate on Ligue 2?] Uhhh yeah exactly, we need to concentrate on our routine, on the league aaand [Pierre: Oooh, I can put champagne in here.] to try to finish in the best position possible, and, why not, go up to Ligue 1?
Ducasse: [talking about the league after winning this cup final] We’re going to play important matches, we’re going to go on to play Rennes and then Lyon. In addition, we’ve lost Cavenaghi (he got a red card in the FIFA) I’m going to send him to Argentina for a week to clear his mind a little. [Yoann is clearly thinking “You’re taking this manager thing waaay too seriously.”] I don’t like difficulties within the group. I can’t tolerate that.

Yoann Gourcuff and Pierre Ducasse playing videogames, Bordeaux vs Vannes, ahead of the League Cup final (april 2009). Both are very funny…Pierre singing “Allez Bordeaux allez!!!” Yoann complaining about the fact he doesn’t understand how to play, especially after Ducasse scored (“Tu fais comment pour accélérer?”, “C’est R1 c’est sûr?”, “Il m’énerve ce jeu p*****” HAHA). And the post-game interview ;=). Priceless
