Hello everyone, according to fybdx’s homepage, this tumblr has not been updated for five months. Unfortunately due to starting a new life (aka university), I have not been able to follow Ligue 1 in great a depth as I would like, let alone keep up a blog.

HOWEVER I aim to change this, as I do miss being engrossed in French football. Now, to pose the question of the season: Does Bordeaux need a new coach? Signs point to yes. I have had many disagreements with Tigana (in my head, bien sûr) and our current standing of 10th leads me to believe ‘yes’. I welcomed turning over a new leaf after Bordeaux’s downward spiral at the end of the 2009/10 season, however this chapter (terribly written, at that) has to be closed. Even without the likes of Gourcuff and Chamakh, the squad had great potential. Now it is just a mediocre bunch. Yes, Bordeaux used to be a mid-table club. Yes, Ligue 1 standings are erratic (bar consistencies of Lyon, Marseille, PSG). But this does not mean that Girondins de Bordeaux can fall from grace. Just like that. The players have failed to respond to Tigana - even Pavon had enough - and so the club must search for someone more inspirational; also someone who makes fewer dubious decisions… But this is easier said than done.

It’s nice to see that this tumblr has only lost 13 followers during the unplanned hiatus; was expecting a greater loss! As always, feel free to pop a message - especially if you would like to share an opinion on the above question. I now leave you all with this appetiser for our match vs St Etienne on Sunday, 17:00 CET. Allez Bordeaux!

Unrelated note: I went to Paris at the beginning of the month and met a French football journalist who you may know of: @tomwfootball / Football Further whilst watching the Champions League in a bar. I was genuinely shocked when I realised who he was. Small world! If you do not follow him/read his articles already then I suggest you should as Ligue 1 followers. Great writer and a really nice guy!

Gourcuff on Le Club Liza radio show.

Si tu parles le français couramment…

> Irrelevant to football, they talk about Yoann’s looks and music taste and he gets embarrassed, etc.

>More about the effect Blanc leaving will have, blahblahblah.

>His thoughts on the team’s recent bad form, against Marseille, Lyon, Nancy, etc.

>His future, the relationship with Blanc, the French NT.

source.

To non-French speakers: there’s nothing really that ground-breaking revealed in this interview, although the part with Yoann getting embarrassed is pretty amusing. It’s basically an expansion on what was said on Canal Football Club, as well as talking about Bordeaux’s recent form; but if you would like to know more about what was said in these clips, hit the reply button on this post and I’ll try to answer any questions. :)

To sum it up in English:

  • Will Laurent Blanc leave Bordeaux at the end of the season? Nobody knows, not even himself.
  • His decision will affect other players’ decisions, according to Gourcuff.
  • Gourcuff is unsure about his own future. “Honestly, I have not decided what to do.”
  • ON CHAMAKH’S FUTURE: “Marouane will make up his mind at the end of the season, which I understand.” (this comes after a ‘fresh report’ from the Mail on Sunday claiming Marouane to Arsenal has been confirmed. Sigh.)
