Hello everyone, according to fybdx’s homepage, this tumblr has not been updated for five months. Unfortunately due to starting a new life (aka university), I have not been able to follow Ligue 1 in great a depth as I would like, let alone keep up a blog.
HOWEVER I aim to change this, as I do miss being engrossed in French football. Now, to pose the question of the season: Does Bordeaux need a new coach? Signs point to yes. I have had many disagreements with Tigana (in my head, bien sûr) and our current standing of 10th leads me to believe ‘yes’. I welcomed turning over a new leaf after Bordeaux’s downward spiral at the end of the 2009/10 season, however this chapter (terribly written, at that) has to be closed. Even without the likes of Gourcuff and Chamakh, the squad had great potential. Now it is just a mediocre bunch. Yes, Bordeaux used to be a mid-table club. Yes, Ligue 1 standings are erratic (bar consistencies of Lyon, Marseille, PSG). But this does not mean that Girondins de Bordeaux can fall from grace. Just like that. The players have failed to respond to Tigana - even Pavon had enough - and so the club must search for someone more inspirational; also someone who makes fewer dubious decisions… But this is easier said than done.
It’s nice to see that this tumblr has only lost 13 followers during the unplanned hiatus; was expecting a greater loss! As always, feel free to pop a message - especially if you would like to share an opinion on the above question. I now leave you all with this appetiser for our match vs St Etienne on Sunday, 17:00 CET. Allez Bordeaux!
Unrelated note: I went to Paris at the beginning of the month and met a French football journalist who you may know of: @tomwfootball / Football Further whilst watching the Champions League in a bar. I was genuinely shocked when I realised who he was. Small world! If you do not follow him/read his articles already then I suggest you should as Ligue 1 followers. Great writer and a really nice guy!
“J’ai pas l’habitude de jouer avec le truc.” I think we all know that, Yoann. You don’t even know what the thing is called.
Most of the second half is spent bitching about the referee hahah.
EDIT: Post-match interview requested: The Console 33 Cup goes back to Bordeaux!
Gourcuff: Yes, I’m satisfied with the performance of my team. I acknowledge that not a lot of shots were made, I don’t really know how to shoot with this controller. But no, the game was interesting, at times I was a threat to Bordeaux. It was satisfying, but it’s frustrating in front of goal. (he complains about not knowing how to shoot again.) [Now you will have to concentrate on Ligue 2?] Uhhh yeah exactly, we need to concentrate on our routine, on the league aaand [Pierre: Oooh, I can put champagne in here.] to try to finish in the best position possible, and, why not, go up to Ligue 1?
Ducasse: [talking about the league after winning this cup final] We’re going to play important matches, we’re going to go on to play Rennes and then Lyon. In addition, we’ve lost Cavenaghi (he got a red card in the FIFA) I’m going to send him to Argentina for a week to clear his mind a little. [Yoann is clearly thinking “You’re taking this manager thing waaay too seriously.”] I don’t like difficulties within the group. I can’t tolerate that.
Yoann Gourcuff and Pierre Ducasse playing videogames, Bordeaux vs Vannes, ahead of the League Cup final (april 2009). Both are very funny…Pierre singing “Allez Bordeaux allez!!!” Yoann complaining about the fact he doesn’t understand how to play, especially after Ducasse scored (“Tu fais comment pour accélérer?”, “C’est R1 c’est sûr?”, “Il m’énerve ce jeu p*****” HAHA). And the post-game interview ;=). Priceless
“Attends, comment co-” “QUOI?” Hahaha Pierre sounds so annoyed.
“Chamaaakh, je vous aime, je vous aime!”
“C’est incroyable.” “TROP FORT! Trop fort ce Bordelais.”
“2-0.” “C’est pas mérité. Regards, 52% possession balle.” “51! Ah non, passes réussies…52, ah mais bon, dominé mais pas gagner.”
loooool Yoann. Useless.
I love Console 33.
EDIT: I like how this post was my 333rd.
A few people wanted a translation from the Garden Party. Typing out the Sertić and Sané part with the video playing in the background, so apologies for the shoddiness in the rushed translation!
From 2:00:
Grég: Each player steps out to their number. The first Cédric Carrasso, the last Abdou Keita…don’t forget the number 25, who is Lamine Ludovic Sané. *I’ll let you come in a bit* There, get out. A great, great player; the FUTURE, they call him the new Desailly.
Lamine: I would like to say that the number 22, it’s not for nothing, because he has the style of play of Kaká. (his old number at AC Milan)
Grég: If you insist, if you insist. :) No, but it’s important, because you can see all of the partners (Bordeaux’s), all of Lamine’s fans (LOL) outside; we take pleasure in knowing them. When Lamine goes out, *Haillan goes crazy*.
Olivier: Do you have a special entrance or not?
Grég: Yep.
Doing this has made me realise that I need new earphones. I don’t know what Greg says off-camera anymore. Help?
But in a nutshell, these two are hilarious, and I worry for their egos.
